Job description:
- Review all mammography imaging requests, checking for special instructions; and confirming studies based on physician orders for all AIC patients.
- Perform digital breast screening mammograms.
- Provide the AIC patient education on screening and mammography testing to ensure understanding of risk and adverse reactions that may be possible, if any.
- Monitor AIC patient conditions and vital signs, recognize allergic reactions and initiate emergency response, if needed, to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Conduct mammography studies, including but not limited to, positioning breasts; adjusting compression mechanisms; instructing the AIC patient to hold breath; retreating to lead protected area; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors; activating equipment to take image; releasing compression mechanisms; preparing for next positioning and view.
- Maintain production and quality of mammograms, including but not limited to, following established standards and procedures; developing mammograms; observing mammogram results; determining necessary adjustments for optimum results; retaking mammograms as required; forwarding completed studies to FMC staff or licensed radiologist for interpretation.
- Ensure all applicable policies, procedures and protocols related to mammography services are current and available for FMC staff and physicians.
- Assist with collection and data analysis of the AIC patient procedures; perform and help implement quality assurance/ quality improvement related to breast imaging, screenings and diagnostic mammography testing to support the accreditation of the FMC's breast imaging program.
- Ensure proper operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance; instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; requesting for repairs; and maintaining equipment inventories.
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards, procedures and regulations. Document AIC patient mammogram services consistent with BOP medical record policies
Education and Experience
1. Education: Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school; Mammographic Radiologic Technology certified; and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
2. Experience: Must minimum one year of experience as Radiology Tech (Mammogram).
3. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
Schedule:
Services will be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Central Time - Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
