Job Summary

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking qualified Pharmacists to provide professional pharmacy services at FCC Pollock in Louisiana. This role supports adults in custody (AIC) by ensuring accurate medication dispensing, inventory control, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and verify prescription orders from medical and dental providers
  • Enter prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system and generate labels
  • Select, prepare, and dispense medications manually or using pharmacy automation systems
  • Maintain medication and supply inventory; identify low stock and coordinate ordering with Chief/Staff Pharmacist
  • Utilize unit-dose repackaging automation to prepare medications for distribution to other BOP sites
  • Package prescriptions for remote pharmacy services and overnight courier shipment
  • Process and restock returned medications from remote pharmacy sites
  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations
  • Safeguard sensitive and security-related information at all times

Required Qualifications

  • Current Pharmacist license/certification (Louisiana license preferred but not required)
  • Ability to meet all BOP credentialing and background requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of professional pharmacy standards and regulations

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • 8-hour shifts per day
  • Not to exceed 40 hours per week
  • Typical hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (CT)
  • Occasional coverage may be required outside normal hours, including weekends or holidays, to support staffing gaps
